About the event
Middle-Grade Fiction is of growing interest to both writers and publishers, but what makes it different to writing picture books or young adult fiction? The proposed workshop looks at helping emerging writers unlock the common traps experienced when embarking on writing for this challenging, but rewarding genre. Learn how to tailor the voice, character, plot and dialogue of their stories to best suit middle-grade fiction. How many points of view are suitable for this age group and how many sub-plots can be introduced without over complicating the story? How many characters will make their prose sing? This workshop will explore the ways in which writers can mould their craft to best suit our young readers.
